PUPDATE! Meet the Team: Rachel Lachaga, Member Advisor
There are few things more meaningful than the bond between humans and their pets. That’s why Rachel Lachaga wanted to be part of an organization that strengthens that bond through various services.
Rachel moved to Chicago in August of 2021 and her journey with PUPS started soon after. As a Member Adviser, Rachel’s main responsibility is connecting members to the services that best fit their needs. This aspect of her job led to the most rewarding memory of her career. Rachel learned all about a Border Collie named Maverick that needed some unique training. Maverick’s owners had tried other trainers but said that they essentially ignored the pup’s specific concerns and didn’t put in much effort. So Rachel connected them to our Expert Trainer, Ryan! It was truly amazing for Rachel to witness the positive impact Ryan had on Maverick and his parents. While training is definitely a journey that progresses over time, the change Ryan made for the family in just a couple of months was so beautiful.
Although Rachel has only been in Chicago for a short time, she has a long list of reasons why she loves it here. Her favorite thing about Chicago is exploring all of the different neighborhoods and learning about the “unique identities” of each one. In her free time, she enjoys writing and performing her own music. She also likes playing board and video games with friends but also can’t wait to swim in Lake Michigan this summer. Some of her best memories in Chicago include forming real friendships with her coworkers. She says it’s been so nice to work with people who want to get to know her and always make her feel valued for her hard work.
