A Cut Above! Introducing PUPS One-Of-A-Kind, Super-Personalized And Flexible Grooming Academy
PUPS Pet Club does things differently. We have built flexibility into all aspects of our organization. This allows for us to meet our members and their pups wherever they are “at” in their training and relationship journeys. This same thinking applies to our team members. Each of us is unique. We all bring with us different skills, backgrounds, learning styles, personality traits … we could go on and on. Our approach to training employees accounts for what makes each individual one of a kind.
PUPS one-of-a-kind Grooming Academy is designed to fit with each Grooming Apprentice’s unique needs, personal preferences and busy schedules. Our Lead Groomer, Pablo Jimenez, naturally ensures that apprentices obtain the knowledge and experience they need to be successful at PUPS and in the grooming industry. However, he accomplishes this in a way that defies traditional, black and white, set-in-stone, inflexible and staid apprenticeship programs. Like leading-edge degree programs designed for adult or non-traditional learners, we don’t “shoehorn” the apprentice; our programming is developed around his/her/their needs. Additionally, our Grooming Academy accounts for the unique nature and needs of the companion animal professional grooming industry.
What we mean by this:
- Apprentices are provided ample time to master bathing, grooming and related services, and associated products and techniques. Since coat characteristics vary from breed to breed, services must be repeated on different breeds. A six- to eight-week or three-month program may sound sufficient from the outset; however, grooming does not adhere to strict protocols that can be memorized. It demands practice, practice, practice and refinement of each apprentice’s natural artistic skills. That takes time, but not necessarily a specific period of time for each groomer-in-training.
- To ensure that each pup looks and feels like a million bucks after every appointment, Pablo likes to say that apprentices will ideally graduate from the Grooming Academy within seven to eight months. Again, there is breathing room here. Some groomers may feel confident and demonstrate their abilities within a shorter period of time, whereas others may need to “rinse and repeat.” Our academy’s built-in flexibility allows for apprentices to embark on their professional grooming career at their pace, depending on their level of skill and comfort.
- As Pablo will tell you, some of the most valuable lessons that apprentices will learn have nothing to do with the technical aspects of trimming, sculpting, conditioning, bathing, drying and their ilk. Successful dog groomers are patient. They know how to interact with two-legged clients as well as their four-legged pooches. They think on their feet while standing on their feet for lengthy periods of time. Top-performers like Pablo also have an enviable grasp of time management. These lessons must be gained through “doing,” experience and, yes, even hard knocks.
Members, as a “thank you” to those who book with our Apprentice Groomers, we are offering a 10% discount on their services.
We assure that all of our apprentices are in the best possible position to maintain the hair, nails and skin that exudes health, beauty and a great quality of life. So, we are generous in giving apprentices sufficient time to learn and master these services and skills during their training period. We appreciate your understanding, patience and your playing an important part in developing the next-generation of awesome dog groomers!
