PUPDATE! MEET THE TEAM: Jenni Pstrong, Daycare Attendant and Dog Walker
If you look up effervescent or optimistic in the dictionary, you may find a picture of Jenny Pstrong!
Jenni has been a dog walker for PUPS in Wicker Park for almost a year now, but she’s been in the animal care industry for close to a decade. She takes the responsibility of caring for dogs very seriously and is even CPR certified. She absolutely adores the dogs she gets to work with and has so much fun strolling around Wicker Park with them!
She has lived in the Wicker Park neighborhood for the past 8 years and adores the life she has built in that area. Wicker Park gives Jenny such a strong sense of community as her neighbors are always so welcoming, selfless and friendly. She also loves that her Wicker Park PUPS Team is encouraging and supportive because it allows for an incredible, almost family-like, dynamic.
You can tell Jenni is a dog-lover because when she is not at PUPS, she is volunteering with One Tail At A Time (OTAT). Originally, she volunteered in the adoption center but now she is a member of the Associate Board which allows her to help with fundraising efforts and event support.
She initially became involved with the organization after adopting her own dog, Phife, from OTAT a few years ago. Her good friends were Phife’s foster parents, but it didn’t take long for Phife and Jenny to build their connection instead. Jenny says that Phife was obsessed with her and insisted on sitting in her lap during game nights. She knew she wanted to bring him home and give him an amazing life. Phife is a beautiful husky mix who loves exploring the Wicker Park Area and cuddling with his mom. Jenny is also a pet parent to her 13-year-old cat, Nintendo.
When it comes to pet-parenting, Jenni has a few pieces of advice. She recommends researching dog breeds before bringing them home to ensure that they fit your lifestyle, especially if it’s a high-energy dog in a small apartment. She also says that dog training is always necessary in order to build the bond between you and your pup while also addressing tricky puppy behaviors.
We appreciate everything that Jenny does for our valued members every day. Interested in having Jenni walk your dog? Call us at 312-971-7080 to book a meet and greet, today!
