PUPDATE! Meet the Team: Millie Burnett, Assistant General Manager
What started as just a “fun job” while pursuing an undergraduate degree at Northwestern, turned into a promising career for our very own Millie Burnett.
Like most of our team, Millie originally pursued PUPS due to her love for dogs and need for making a little extra money while in school. Although it might have been “just a job” initially, Millie was determined to impress management during the interview process. That’s why she dedicated countless hours to perfecting her resume before her first interview.
Clearly it worked because Millie was brought on as a Daycare Attendant shortly after the interview. Her hard-working spirit was evident right away which led to her promotion to Member Service Representative. Eventually, she evolved into Streeterville’s Daycare Lead and remained in that position throughout the pandemic. Fast forward to mid-2021 where the club was in need of a new leader. After considering Millie’s past roles and constant commitment to PUPS, she was promoted once again to Assistant General Manager of our Streeterville Club.
Millie says that working for PUPS is one of the most rewarding experiences she has ever had. As much as she loves hanging out with the dogs, Millie’s favorite daily occurrence is watching the dogs reunite with their humans. Most of the dogs sprint to their owners and leap into their arms which Millie says is super heartwarming. Millie is also a huge supporter of the PUPS training programs. She believes that, “all dogs need training of some kind,” and she has seen first-hand how training can benefit both pups and their humans.
When she’s not at PUPS, Millie is most likely planning her next vacation. She loves to travel and would love to revisit Cairo, Egypt at some point. She also enjoys reading and visiting museums throughout the Chicagoland area.
Even though Millie is technically a Florida-native, she considers herself loyal to Chicago. She originally moved here for her education but when asked if she sees herself staying in Chicago for the long-haul, she said “hell yeah! I love Chicago!” Eventually, Millie may consider going back to med-school due to her love of science. But ultimately, she is extremely happy with the life she has built with PUPS and she plans on staying and growing here for a while. Thanks for all you do, Millie!
